In December 2020 and February 2021, Avocats Sans Frontières France carried out two joint missions with the Paris Bar Association to Iraqi Kurdistan and Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan), following which we called for the urgent repatriation of children and women of French nationality detained in the camps.
As a hearing will be held on 29 September before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), and as France is the first European country concerned by the issue of repatriation in terms of the number of nationals who have left for the area, we have presented an amicus curiae to the Grand Chamber, the most solemn chamber of the Court. This amicus presents an overview of the judicial prospects for French nationals currently detained in the Rojava camps.
