SAFE - Round table discussion following security corps training

Illustration : SAFE - Table ronde suite à la formation des corps de sécurité

As part of the implementation of the SAFE project ("Strengthening the National Actors Capacities and Advocation for Ending Severe Human Rights Violations in Nigeria project") funded by the European Union and the French Development Agency and conducted in Nigeria, ASF France and its partners held a roundtable on 3 March in Kaduna. The roundtable brought together 25 participants from the country's main security forces, including the police, the army, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, as well as human rights organisations such as the Nigerian Bar Association and the National Human Rights Commission.

This roundtable follows a human rights training held from 28 February to 2 March in the same location, during which 30 members of the country's law enforcement agencies were trained.

These two events led to the development of recommendations, which aim to increase the respect of human rights by Nigerian law enforcement agencies and to encourage the denunciation of any cruel, inhuman or degrading act.

Congratulations to all the participants for their work and commitment.
