📌 Nigeria - Situation Room

📣 On 26 April 2023, a 'situation room' was organised between the police and civil society actors at the UN offices in Abuja.

In the framework of the project "Strengthening oversight and accountability mechanisms of the Nigerian police force" led by OHCHR and UNODC, ASF France was asked to support the implementation and co-facilitation of a situation room with civil society actors and representatives of Nigerian security agencies.

The objective of this workshop was to create a platform for collaboration between the police and CSOs to improve respect for human rights in Nigeria.

During the Situation Room, participants were able to

- Review the status of the collaboration established since 2021 between the police and CSOs to address human rights violations by law enforcement agencies;
- Discuss the internal accountability mechanism of the police and ways to strengthen it
- Find ways to support the establishment of 'Situation Room' under the UNODC/OHCHR project.
