How can press freedom be guaranteed in Nigeria and digital rights protected in the age of disinformation?
On 20 May in Abuja, ASF France organised two multi-stakeholder consultation workshops in the form of Situation Rooms (crisis units) as part of the e-RIGHTS project.
The objectives?
✔️ Create sustainable spaces for dialogue between key actors
✔️ Strengthen skills and mutual understanding
✔️ Develop concrete recommendations for a safer digital environment and a better protected press
✔️ Mobilise national authorities for sustainable and enforceable changes across the country
🟣 The first Situation Room, supported by the European Union Delegation, brought together public decision-makers, activists and experts to formulate recommendations for a safer digital ecosystem in Nigeria.
🟠 The second, supported by UNESCO's Global Fund for Media Defence, facilitated dialogue between journalists and law enforcement agencies to build trust, reduce tensions and protect media professionals.
🤝 Thank you to our partners CITAD and Spaces for Change for their commitment!
