🌍 In Banjul, The Gambia, we participated in the E-RIGHTS Side Event on Digital Rights, held on the sidelines of the 85th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights ACHPR85.
We had the honor of hearing from Hon. Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services of the Republic of The Gambia, who opened the session with a powerful statement, as well as Hon. Commissioner Janet Ramatoulie Sallah-Njie, Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women in Africa (ACHPR), who shared insightful reflections on protecting freedom of expression and privacy in the digital age.
Our Executive Director, Anne Lutun, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the need to safeguard human rights in a constantly evolving digital environment, where issues of technology, security, and fundamental freedoms intersect.
✨ This exchange helped lay the foundation for an essential dialogue on how to balance technological innovation, security, and respect for human rights across the continent.
