Since July 27, the city of Kindia has been hosting a training-of-trainers program on the Unified Information System on Gender-Based Violence Data (SUID-VBG). This national initiative is led by the Ministry of Women, Family, and Solidarity, with technical and financial support from Enabel.

Through the LIBRE project (Combating Impunity for Perpetrators of Gender-Based Violence to Strengthen Gender Equality in Guinea), Avocats Sans Frontières France (ASF France) is contributing to the development of this strategic initiative by providing its expertise to support capacity-building and the consolidation of a national system for managing data on gender-based violence. This system is intended to be gradually rolled out across the entire territory of Guinea in order to standardize the collection, processing, and analysis of data.

At the opening of the training session, the National Director for Gender and Equity of the Ministry of Women, Family, and Solidarity praised the commitment of the institutional and technical partners mobilized for the implementation of the SUID-VBG. In particular, she highlighted the contribution of ASF France, alongside Enabel, in the design and development of this foundational tool for the national steering of policies to combat gender-based violence.

As part of the LIBRE project, ASF France is supporting this initiative by leveraging its expertise in monitoring and evaluation and information systems. Its Monitoring and Evaluation Officer provides technical support to the firm Évalué Guinée, which is responsible for implementing activities related to the database.

The first training sessions enabled representatives from the relevant ministries and civil society organizations to strengthen their skills in using OpenClinic, the SUID-VBG’s data management platform. In particular, participants gained a deeper understanding of case management, obtaining informed consent, and analyzing statistical reports—all essential skills for ensuring reliable, harmonized, and actionable data.

Beyond building the capacity of stakeholders, the rollout of the SUID-VBG represents a major step forward for Guinea. By improving the quality of available data, it will strengthen coordination among institutions, inform public policy decisions, and contribute to a more effective, coherent, and better-tailored response to the needs of survivors of gender-based violence.
